Join AkzoNobel as a Senior Internal Auditor
As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the integrity and efficiency of our global operations. You'll work as part of an international audit team, delivering insights that strengthen our governance, risk management, and internal control environment. This is more than just a compliance role – your work will directly support continuous improvement at all levels of the business.
Your responsibilities
- Lead or actively participate in global internal audit assignments in accordance with AkzoNobel’s Internal Audit Methodology.
- As Lead Auditor (within 6 months of joining), guide audit teams and support assignment managers in executing audits effectively.
- Conduct thorough audit preparations, including setting audit scopes, gathering background information, conducting interviews, and documenting plans.
- Evaluate business processes, identify risks, test key controls, and assess the impact of control weaknesses.
- Draft and present audit observations and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Finalize audit documentation, contribute to audit reports, and follow up on agreed actions.
- Support departmental improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the Internal Audit function.
- Stay current with auditing best practices and regulatory changes.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in public accounting and/or internal audit, ideally in a large or mid-sized international manufacturing company
- Strong knowledge of risk-based auditing and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
- Excellent command of English
- Audit certification (e.g., CPA, CIA) or currently working towards one
- Familiarity with SAP business processes (Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance/Controlling)
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and report writing skills
- Experience with data analytics in audit is highly preferred
- Able to work effectively with diverse, international teams and deliver results on time and within budget
- Willingness to travel up to 30-40%
