About this position
The Metabolic Health Research (MHR) department supports efficient development of drugs and health interventions by creating tools, technology, and models that facilitate research at every stage of the development pipeline. From target discovery to preclinical efficacy analysis, advanced analytics and pharmacokinetics, we collaborate with pharmaceutical and nutritional industries and numerous academic partners to drive innovation. Our state-of-the-art lab facilities in Leiden include AMS (Accelerator Mass spectrometry), LC-HRMS and Maldi-TOF MS systems. The primary goal of the MHR team is to accelerate drug development by two years by 2030, in order to improve quality of life, extend lives, and reduce healthcare costs. As a Bioanalytical Scientist, you will play a key role in achieving this ambition.
What will be your role?
As a scientist you will develop solutions for analyzing drugs, their metabolites as well as endogenous metabolites for our internal and external clients. In our state of the art laboratory in Leiden we develop and apply methods for analyses in biofluids and tissues utilizing LC-HRMS, MALDI-TOF MS and AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry). You will work together with other scientists, technicians and project managers on applied research or services projects. You will prepare study proposals, study plans, review laboratory instructions, supervise and coach technicians during the execution of the projects. Our projects are always multidisciplinary and dynamic, involving clinicians, (micro) biologists and bioinformaticians. Together with project leaders and business developers you will discuss best solutions and progress of the work with our internal and external clients. Depending on the projects and your involvement, you will lead or contribute to publishing of our research findings.
We are looking for someone with strong scientific base, but customer oriented and prepared to help us to grow in projects. We expect you to be entrepreneurial and to help increase acquisition of new projects for our team together with our business developers.
We kindly ask you to elaborate in your motivation letter on what you bring to the table in terms of scientific expertise, customer orientation and entrepreneurial mindset.
