Join Philips as a Product Designer

Your Challenge:
Create user-centered product designs that translate consumer insights into meaningful solutions for mothers, babies, and families.

Your role (Responsibilities)

  • As Product Designer, you will create and translate proposition concepts into product designs, from early sketches and draft volume models to CAD files, material and finishing solutions, and production implementation support.
  • Your work will have a direct impact on shaping user-focused innovations that prioritize usability and sustainability in line with Philips Avent’s Design Language System and brand guidelines.
  • You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, researchers, and brand experts, as well as stakeholders across Philips Avent’s global business.
  • You will be a part of the Experience Design team of Philips Avent, reporting into the Design Leader.
  • This role offers professional growth in consumer-driven product design, sustainable design supporting women’s health, and cross-functional collaboration, along with personal development in strategic thinking and radical consumer empathy.

You're the right fit if:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in product design with proven experience in creating consumer-focused concepts, developing CAD models, and supporting engineering feasibility.
  • Skills:
    • Product design core skills: Ability to create and evaluate product propositions, explore early product architecture configurations, define product design experience requirements (including sustainability and circularity), and translate concepts into tangible solutions through sketches, draft volume models, and specifications.
    • Visualization & modeling: Strong visualization and sketching skills, with proficiency in CAD/Rhino modeling to move from design concept to mature product solutions.
    • Design language & brand translation: Skilled in applying design language systems, brand values, and Color Material & Finishing (CMF) catalog to create recognizable and consistent product solutions.
    • Research & analysis: Experienced in qualitative user research, competitor benchmarking (e.g., mood boards, positioning maps, disassembly analysis), and synthesizing insights into design decisions.
    • Collaboration & communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to work across disciplines, and a strategic mindset to identify opportunities for modularity and synergies in product design.
  • Tools: Proficient in CAD modeling (Rhinoceros, SolidWorks), illustration tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), and design system application.
  • Education: Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Attitude: Strong curiosity, empathy, and self-learning mindset, with the ability to actively listen, ask insightful questions, and turn complex inputs into coherent design propositions.
