AI Solution Architect at Philips

Innovation Engineering (IEN) partners with Business Units and Functions to accelerate innovation and enhance quality, aligning closely with product roadmaps and priorities. We provide a focused portfolio of digital innovation and system platforms that enable our Philips Businesses to scale innovation.

We are seeking an AI Solutions Architect to enable the adoption and acceleration of AI across Innovation Engineering (IEN). This high-impact role is central to our ambition to integrate AI deeply into our engineering workflows—across hardware, systems, software development, and platforms.

As a key member of the AI Council, you play a pivotal role in the transformation of IEN. The AI Council operates as a federated network that identifies, prioritizes, and accelerates high-impact AI use cases across Philips Engineering. You will support engineering teams by identifying opportunities, designing solutions, and helping them bring AI-enabled prototypes to life.

This is a hands-on and strategic position, ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise in AI with a strong sense of business value and stakeholder influence. The application of AI in IEN is broad, ranging from Generative AI to Vision Based AI for quality control to predictive analytics, factory optimization to AI integrated in the products and systems.

Your work bridges the gap between business needs and technical execution, ensuring that AI initiatives deliver measurable value.

Your role:

Strategic Enablement

  • Drive adoption of (Gen)AI across Innovation Engineering by helping teams move from idea to impact
  • Identify high-value, feasible AI use cases in collaboration with domain experts and product owners
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior stakeholders and engineering leaders
  • Translate business objectives into actionable AI architectures and MVPs

Solution Design

  • Design end-to-end AI solutions involving LLMs, prompt engineering, MCPs, agents but also non-LLM application of machine learning for e.g. vision, acoustics, mechatronics and factory applications. As well as data driven optimization in engineering workflows.
  • Select appropriate AI models (open source or commercial) and platforms.
  • Define technical blueprints and reusable components for use across the organization. Balancing “buy and make”; preferably leveraging existing industry standard tooling over home grown solutions.

Execution & Governance

  • Guide cross-functional teams during development, testing, and deployment phases
  • Ensure compliance with Philips security, privacy, and regulatory standards
  • Promote best practices for model evaluation, prompt engineering, and human-in-the-loop feedback
  • Contribute to shared GenAI standards and reference implementations to scale impact
  • Ensure seamless integration, deployment, and operationalization of AI/ML solutions.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field. Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 12 years’ experience, with proven experience in AI/ML solution architecture and system engineering, ideally in an enterprise or regulated environment
  • Deep understanding of generative AI technologies (LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-based generation, agents)
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based AI platforms and modern GenAI toolkits and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and common AI/ML development languages (e.g., Python)
  • Experience in classical computer vision (OpenCV, image preprocessing, object detection, etc.) would be nice to have.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to thrive in a multi stakeholder environment
  • Systems thinking mindset and ability to work across domains (hardware, systems, software)
  • Collaborative, proactive, and energized by enabling others to succeed
  • Hands-on experience in applied Data and AI is a must

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This role is an office-based role.
