Be part of progress

Are you a master’s student passionate about artificial intelligence and machine learning—especially Generative AI? Join ASML’s Innovation Lab for a unique internship that blends academic research with real-world industry experience. As an AI/ML Master Thesis Intern, you’ll explore cutting-edge AI solutions while contributing to ASML’s mission of enabling groundbreaking technology.

Your assignment

This internship offers hands-on experience with a real-world use case from the AI Innovation Lab. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and deliver results that matter. Along the way, you’ll participate in agile ceremonies such as standups, reviews, demos, and retrospectives—gaining valuable feedback and staying aligned with the team.

  • Execute a Generative AI or machine learning project that supports your master’s thesis.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and analytics translators.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Participate in agile team activities and contribute to a dynamic development process.
  • Document your findings and present results to internal stakeholders.

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program in data science, mathematics, physics, econometrics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with Azure (a plus).
  • Interest in AI and Generative AI technologies.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical audiences and excellent (English) communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is a Thesis/Graduation Internship lasting 6 to 12 months (preferably 9 months or longer), with flexibility to tailor the duration to your thesis requirements. You’ll typically work 2–3 days per week in the office as part of a hybrid setup.

Selected students will need to complete a HireVue assessment within one week in order to be considered for an interview round.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. If you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter should include your willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university must be willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
