About Hotelchamp

Hotelchamp is on a mission to give hotels back control of their bookings. Online Travel Agencies like Booking.com and Expedia have turned into powerful conversion and marketing machines, charging hotels commissions of up to 20% and demanding even more discounts just for visibility. We believe guests should book direct, and that the hotel website should be where the guest experience begins.

We have built an innovative booking engine that makes booking effortless and trustworthy, and we are now taking the next steps to deliver hyper-personalised, AI-driven booking experiences that turn the stress and complexity of travel planning into something simple, clear, and even exciting.

Why join us

You will be part of a small, experienced, highly motivated development team that owns the roadmap and works with real autonomy. We collaborate closely, help each other through technical challenges, and share knowledge freely. You will have the freedom to decide how to move forward, challenge assumptions, and shape the product to achieve the best results for our customers.

You will work with some of the most unique hotels and resorts in the world, in a company with a strong culture of support, respect, and celebrating each other’s successes. We believe the best idea wins, and we want people who love to learn, develop their skills, and take on meaningful problems.

Job requirements

The role

Formally based in our Groningen office, but with only occasional in-office expectations - roughly once every one to two weeks. Two to three times a year we have company offsites in Amsterdam, during which you will spend 2–3 days there (hotel covered by Hotelchamp).

You will:

  • Build and extend our full-stack applications to support new and innovative features
  • Design elegant, scalable architectures for complex products
  • Work confidently across back-end systems and modern front-end stacks
  • Create reusable components and code libraries for multiple projects
  • Craft experiences with strong attention to design detail and guest outcomes
  • Recommend and evaluate technologies for new functionality
  • Lead and mentor other developers

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of development experience, including significant back-end and front-end work
  • Strong PHP (OOP) skills, ideally with Laravel
  • Experience in ReactJS (ES6), Redux, and Typescript
  • Passion for JavaScript and the ability to spar technically with our most experienced devs
  • Understanding of REST APIs and integration best practices
  • Attention to detail on UI, UX, and design execution
  • Comfortable working with agile principles in a collaborative environment
  • Experience scaling systems to handle large data volumes, and/or working on mission-critical products that process high revenue or support essential processes (e.g. healthcare, banking, ecommerce) where downtime is not an option
  • Write clean, readable code with good documentation practices
