Join Samskip as a Business Controller – International Trade

Samskip is expanding in several international regions where French is a key business language. To support these trade areas, we seek a mid-senior Business Controller who speaks fluent French and thrives in a diverse logistics environment. You will be instrumental in analyzing performance, providing insights, and supporting local and international managing directors.

Based at our headquarters in Rotterdam you form part of a larger finance team, working closely with three other business controllers as well as accounting and reporting staff and managers, and various Business Unit and Trade managers. You report to the Head of Business Control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a financial business partner for international trade areas, particularly those where French is spoken.
  • Analyze, monitor, and challenge business performance across multiple trade lanes.
  • Provide financial insights and dashboards to support commercial and strategic decisions.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support regional and local Managing Directors in achieving business targets.
  • Create business cases, margin analyses, and investment proposals.
  • Drive process improvements and automation in reporting (e.g., Power BI).
  • Align financial practices and systems across countries (e.g., SAP integration, OneStream).
  • Understand and manage organizational sensitivities in multicultural contexts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A university degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • 4–6 years’ experience in business control, preferably in international trade or logistics.
  • Fluent in French and English (Dutch is a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Power BI, and preferably SAP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams and cross-border projects.
  • Good at explaining financial analysis to non-financials, storytelling to create value and action.
