Job Summary

GKN Aerospace is a global market leader in the aerospace industry. With 38 production locations in 12 countries, we supply parts to more than 90% of all aircraft and engine manufacturers worldwide. One of our leading sites is located in Papendrecht: GKN Fokker Aerostructures. Here, we design and manufacture high-performance aircraft parts, also known as aerostructures – these are the load-bearing parts of an aircraft, such as wing components, fuselage panels, and tail sections. The operation takes place in 4 production units, totaling 550 FTE.
The Maintenance Department (16 FTE) is responsible for the management and maintenance of the machinery, consisting of 1700 machines and installations, ranging from column drilling machines to 5-axis CNC milling machines, robots, and automated lines for the chemical processing of aluminum.

For the automated line of the Surface Treatment unit, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the machines and installations of the Surface Treatment department
  • Analyzing (complex) malfunctions, malfunction patterns, engineering, and setting up/project management of maintenance projects
  • Initiate and co-ordinate modifications to the installations in close consultation with the process specialists of the Surface Treatment department
  • Translating policies and analyses into maintenance models (Ultimo)
  • Technical coaching of mechanics and Service Engineers
  • Conducting HAZOPs, FMEAs, and other technical safety evaluations
  • Managing external firms
  • Reporting and advising management regarding the safety and reliability of the line, modifications, and investments

Job Qualifications

Must have

  • Relevant technical Bachelor degree (HBO)
  • Knowledge of mechanics, electrical engineering, pneumatics, hydraulics, chemistry
  • Knowledge of or affinity with the applied production processes, such as anodizing of aluminum and chemical milling
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written
  • Good communication skills
  • Analytical ability

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of PLC control technology
