Are you passionate about structure, data quality, and making complex systems work seamlessly? In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert on our Reference Designation System (RDS). Bring your eye for detail, love of data, and technical knowledge and help us work towards a fossil-free future.

You will join the Digital Insight team in Digital Engineering, Offshore Wind. The team safeguards master data quality across Vattenfall’s wind portfolio by developing and maintaining naming standards, asset hierarchies, and reference designation systems (RDS). Our work provides the common “technical language” that planners, engineers, and maintenance colleagues rely on to manage assets efficiently and to meet demanding regulatory requirements.

Be in your element with BA Wind

As part of BA Wind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

Your role

As an RDS Specialist, you will be the go-to expert for Vattenfall’s Reference Designation System, ensuring every code, hierarchy, and designation in our asset base is accurate, consistent, and useful. Working remotely with colleagues in engineering, maintenance, and IT, you will develop and maintain the RDS-PP T32 structure, validate existing hierarchies, and assign data objects—equipment, spare parts, documents, and signals—to their correct levels. Your work underpins reliable reporting, efficient maintenance planning, and ultimately the safe, profitable operation of our wind assets across Europe.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop & Maintain RDS-PP T32
    • Create new codes, refine existing ones, and keep structures up-to-date with plant modifications.
  • Validate & Harmonise Structures
    • Review current RDS hierarchies for technical, formal, and content accuracy; correct gaps and unify differing approaches.
  • Assign Master Data
    • Map spare parts, equipment, documents, maintenance objects, and signals to the correct RDS levels and ensure SAP master data (e.g., WBS elements) align.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Liaise with engineering, maintenance, and project teams to ensure the RDS meets operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Guidelines & Training
    • Produce user manuals and training materials; provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting for RDS users.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Suggest process enhancements, support data-quality checks, and contribute to maintenance-implementation initiatives.

Your profile

You are detail-oriented, methodical, and thrive on turning complex technical information into clear, structured data that everyone can trust. You enjoy working independently yet collaborate easily with engineers and analysts across multiple countries. A natural problem-solver, you use creativity and standards knowledge to keep our asset data clean, consistent, and ready for decision-making—while maintaining a positive, open attitude in a hybrid work environment.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Electrical / Control & Monitoring, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 1 year working with RDS or similar designation systems in power generation or heavy industry
  • Familiar with IEC 81346, ISO 14224, and best practices for asset-naming standards
  • Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, or SCADA systems; experience with maintenance implementation and warehouse data a plus
  • Strong Excel skills; comfort maintaining large data sets via spreadsheets
  • Clear spoken and written English and confidence collaborating in multicultural teams
  • Security-minded, well-organised, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision
