The role

The Procurement Specialist Sourcing Manager is responsible for managing all procurement expenditure and product related services for a specific development program at GKN Fokker Aerospace Hoogeveen (Netherlands). This will require the development of strategic relationships with both existing and future suppliers, ensuring that program requirements are satisfied in accordance with the appropriate timeline and quality standards, delivering a highly capable and cost-effective supply base. The role requires in-depth knowledge of electronics, sensors, and systems integrated into hybrid structures built from composite and metallic materials. A key element is to ensure a seamless interface with program management and engineering, establishing a robust supply chain for both development and series production that can deliver products in short lead-times, requiring an entrepreneurial approach. You will work with the existing global commodity team and local procurement teams.

This role is for 12 until 18 months.

Key responsibilities

  • Take leadership for sourcing activities in coordination with costing and engineering to drive a competitive advantage for GKN Aerospace.
  • Prepare data and plans for relevant internal reviews.
  • Ensure the cost, quality, and time-oriented supply of all required products and services in line with business plans, budgets, targets, and strategies.
  • Work in partnership with the Procurement Emerging Markets team to meet customer expectations on developing a strategic global supply chain network.
  • Contract Negotiation: Cost, quality, delivery, cash, compliance, and ensure full adherence to GKN standard contracting terms and conditions, while capturing and flowing down any specific customer requirements to mitigate exposure and risk to GKN.
  • Contract Management: Ensure strict governance in accordance with contractual obligations between GKN and the relevant supplier via regular contract reviews to ensure supplier contract performance is in line with requirements.
  • Conflict Management: In the event of non-performance to contractual terms, manage all areas of the contract ensuring that as a minimum GKN are held harmless.
  • Management of delegated budgets, when applicable.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or CIPS Membership.
  • Several years’ experience in procurement/category management with specific experience in sensors, electronics, and systems is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with people of different levels inside and outside the company and to operate within a team to reach team goals and business objectives.
