Data Privacy Specialist

Privacy plays a key role in Rabobank's reputation as a reliable bank and employer. At the same time we are looking for ways to even become more data driven. In this role you ensure that being data driven includes efficiently managing data privacy with professional discipline. We call that: scale responsible use of data. You are part of the mission to change and improve the way-of-working on data privacy, by making it more efficient and to facilitate privacy compliant use of data whilst at the same time support the bank's data driven business opportunities. You are key in implementing impactful data protection projects across Rabobank.

You and your job

As a data privacy specialist, you are the person who is driving the implementation of group-wide Data Protection projects. As the world of Data Protection is changing significantly, we need to improve oversight and support domains in execution and build awareness for data protection throughout the bank. Issues such as tooling and global implementation of the privacy framework must be resolved group wide. You promote the value of privacy, and you focus on continuous improvement of data protection.

You are part of the Chapter Data Protection, a new team that is part of CDAO: the Chief Data Analytics Office. This team is managing the foundation of the Privacy Management and Record Keeping Framework: processes, procedures, tooling, and management information. Our focus is on implementing and improving global privacy projects.

Practical examples

In the short history of the Chapter Data Protection we’ve realized important projects:

  • We launched the Global Data Protection Dashboard, and are still expanding and improving its functionality, together with stakeholders within the business
  • We have redesigned the Privacy Framework as the basis for increasing Privacy Maturity and selected a preferred future tooling solution which will be best fit-for-purpose
  • We brought both Schrems II and Record Keeping from a project-modus to Business as Usual, taking ownership of processes and monitoring
  • We have implemented the Data Breach Management module of our new Data Protection Platform One Trust.

Top 3 responsibilities

In this role within the Chapter Data Protection you will be a hands-on Data Privacy Specialist focused on change and improvement, funded by good knowledge of Privacy practise. Your top 3 responsibilities will be:

  • Manage and redesign Data Protection processes (such as Privacy by Design, Data Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Breach Management, Record Keeping).
  • Monitoring group-wide privacy risk profile and initiate improvements in operations and/or risk management
  • Develop and execute a bank-wide maturity-assessment as a basis for the Data Protection Vision & Strategy which is operationalised by our CDP long-term roadmap.

Together we achieve more than alone

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. You become part of a relatively new department with highly educated motivated professionals. The joint mission: being the authority in the field of data and data protection and leading the way to a data-driven bank that scales responsible use of data.

“What I enjoy most in working at the Chapter Data Protection is the diversity of privacy topics where we lead the bank to better protect the data of our clients. We are involved with various impactful programs across the bank, such as Schrems II and AI Act. A dynamic role in a fun team with plenty of room for a self-starter and entrepreneurial individual to shape our ambition to become a data driven bank that excels in protecting the data of our clients.” Cindy data privacy specialist

Within the Chapter Data Protection, you will work with talented people who have a passion for privacy, data, and change. With you as data privacy specialist, the team will consist of diverse colleagues in a variety of data roles. Working together is the way we work; as 1 energetic and results-driven team at Rabobank. Talking about Rabobank: we are a Dutch bank, active in 38 countries for our 9.500.000+ customers. With these clients, our members and partners, we work side by side towards a world in which everyone has enough, healthy food. Closer to home, we are working towards a country in which happy people live, work and do business.

You and your talent

It is important that you recognise yourself in the checklist below:

  • Msc or MA degree
  • > 5 years of relevant experience: implementing and improving (privacy) projects (i.e. processes, procedures, tooling and management information)
  • Passionate for Data Protection, based upon knowledge (e.g. CIPP/E) and/or experience
  • Knowledge of AI and GenAI from a Data Protection perspective
  • Good command of English & Dutch (business level)
  • Sense of humour 🙂

A salary in scale 9 or scale 10 could be applicable to this vacancy. This is highly depending on your experience and a comparison with the peers working in the same role which is further determined in the interviews.

Growing a better world together

You will already be aware that Rabobank is a financial services provider for 7.1 million customers in 40 countries. But did you know that we aim to contribute to real change with our 'Growing a better world together' mission? We do so in countless ways, such as: A third of all the food we purchase is thrown away. Together with Nature & Environment, we are working to increase awareness among consumers of how to reduce food waste. As part of a project with Humanitas, we are helping people who are experiencing financial difficulties to get their household finances in order. Together with Vluchtelingenwerk Nederland (the Dutch Council for Refugees), we are helping 1,500 refugees find a suitable job.

Rabobank is a cooperative bank with a mission. As an international financial institution, we work on the well-being and prosperity of millions.
