Time: 40 hours/week

The Azurion X-Ray scanners developed by Philips are used all around the world to diagnose and treat patients for cardiovascular and neurological diseases. There are currently more than 8000 systems used in hospitals globally.

Obviously, the development of such complex systems involves a lot of disciplines, and one major discipline is software development. We develop software on several different levels: Embedded software on Linux based hardware components, C++ control software on Windows PCs, C# .Net software for control software and for test software and web-based applications, mostly for tool applications.

As an intern you will get a specific assignment, tailored to your skills, experience and interests. The assignment can be in all of the above-mentioned software levels. A large part of each assignment will be research work to gather user requirements and to define alternative solutions to challenges. Typically, you will create a prototype or proof of concept implementation to back up your research. Presenting your progress and your results to a large team of professional software developers in Philips is also required and gives you the opportunity to practice.

You're the right fit if:

  • Currently studying for Bachelor or Master in the direction of Business Informatics, Computer Sciences, Engineering Software or ICT

  • Fluent in English speaking and writing, as all documentation is in English

  • Knowledge of general software development processes, frameworks and languages

  • Ability to communicate abstract concepts; good communication skills able to in a timely manner to communicate with other disciplines such as IT, SW Development teams, and (System) Test Teams.

  • Team player, proactive, analytical, conceptual thinker and a structured worker.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. This role is an office based role.

In return we offer you

  • You learn to apply your technical skills in a large (Healthcare) regulated organization.

  • You learn how to get the different stakeholders with different opinions to come to a solution.

  • You have the opportunity to enhance your technical skills with support from professional software developers.

In addition, we also want to remunerate you well for the opportunity. This includes:

  • Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on your education level. Part-time internships receive the allowance pro-rata.

  • Housing compensation. Should you need to relocate to near our office, we’ll offer you a monthly allowance of €300 net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255 net for all other Philips locations. To be eligible, we’ll just ask for the rental contract from your landlord, and your usual home-work travel distance needs to be more than 50 km or 1.5 hours of travel time (for a one way trip).

  • Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192 net as a monthly allowance.

  • Paid holidays per internship term
