Join Our Packaging Technical Operations Team in Haarlem

We are seeking a skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our Packaging Technical Operations team at our site in Haarlem.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing packaging projects from conception through to execution.   Reporting to the Associate Director of Technical Operations, you will support introduction of new products and equipment and engage in problem solving to improve process robustness.

Technical Operations at the Haarlem site handles all Capex Projects. This includes not only modifying existing installations but also designing, installing, and qualifying packaging lines or unique machines. Our team is involved in every stage of these projects, from initial planning and design to final implementation and validation, ensuring that each project meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Purpose of your position:

You'll be supporting major capital projects in Haarlem, focusing on project management and technology transfer for new products. Your role will emphasize project management over packaging engineering, handling one major project and possibly smaller ones. As a project engineer, you'll collaborate with local and international teams, including the Wilson site in North Carolina. You'll work closely with various stakeholders at the Haarlem site such as packaging department, technical associate directors, business development specialists, and packaging engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design, development, and implementation of packaging equipment solutions for pharmaceutical products in collaboration with cross functional teams, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Participate in technology transfer and validation of packaging and device assembly processes and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new packaging technologies.
  • Provide technical oversight for the implementation of packaging processes and equipment.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance packaging process robustness and provide technical support for packaging operations.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns in packaging engineering principles and practices.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical, or related field).
  • 5+ years in packaging engineering or related roles, ideally in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device sectors. Relevant capital project experience in pharma, food, or chemical also considered.
  • Knowledge of packaging equipment, processes, technologies, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Project management and risk assessment competency.
  • Proficient in Dutch (highly preferred) and English.
  • Cross-functional and international team experience.
