Lead the Future of Construction Materials at Cementbouw/VVM

At Cementbouw/VVM we contribute to great construction and infrastructure projects, providing binders and other building materials to our end-customers.

We employ approximately 200 highly engaged professionals across three main operating locations: Rieme and Antwerp (Belgium) and Wanssum (The Netherlands).

Position Overview

  • Lead VVM and Cementbouw operations in Belgium and The Netherlands, overseeing P&L, people, and commercial development for the businesses.
  • Ensure the highest safety culture and standards in line with group policy, leading by example.
  • Set the companies' ambition through CRH financial and reporting cycles (budgets, strategic plans, etc.).
  • Deliver and exceed financial targets including EBITDA, cash flow, and RONA.
  • Identify, assess, and implement long-term development opportunities, including capex investment as well as potential acquisitions and divestments to optimize the current footprint.
  • Through coaching and active leadership, develop a robust and inclusive business leadership team, talent pipeline, and a succession plan for all key roles within the business.
  • As part of the Benelux Team, develop and execute short- and long-term strategies for regional collaboration and business expansion, aligned with CRH strategy and values.

  • Define and implement a forward-looking strategy that aligns with both corporate objectives and the unique regulatory, environmental, and market context of the Benelux region.
  • Lead the company’s transition to low-carbon cement production, including the integration of alternative fuels, carbon capture technologies, circular economy practices, and green energy solutions.
  • Embed sustainability into every aspect of the business — from raw materials sourcing to logistics.
  • Cultivate a high-performance leadership culture, support talent development, and promote an inclusive and collaborative workplace.

Business Performance

  • Oversee safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, ensuring production targets are met without compromising quality or safety.
  • Drive financial health through disciplined cost control, strategic investment, and revenue optimization.
  • Strengthen the company’s market position, leveraging innovation and product development to meet customer needs for sustainable construction materials.

Governance and Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain active dialogue with regional and EU-level authorities, ensuring full compliance with evolving climate, energy, and industrial regulations.
  • Represent the company to industry groups, governmental bodies, local communities, and the media as a respected and responsible leader.

Other Responsibilities

  • In case of alliances in CRH and cross-selling options in Benelux, play a key role in negotiations and engagement to drive effective implementation, collaboration, and/or execution.

Experience / Education

  • Multiyear leadership and P&L experience in industrial sectors such as cement, construction materials, energy, or heavy manufacturing — ideally in multinational or matrixed organizations
  • Involvement in driving large-scale decarbonization or energy transition projects
  • Strong knowledge of Benelux and EU environmental regulations, permitting processes, and sustainability frameworks
  • Familiarity with integrated logistics and supply chain management in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while managing complex operational, regulatory, and stakeholder environments
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or executive education preferred
  • Multilingual capabilities in Dutch and English (ideally also French)
