Introduction to the job

As a Strategic Risk Consultant in Strategic Narrative & Challenges, you play a critical role in helping ASML identify, review and address enterprise-level risks tied to the company’s strategy. You work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and Strategy Team to ensure that strategic and emerging risks are effectively integrated into long-term planning. Your insights help shape the strategic narrative and contribute directly to how ASML anticipates and manages future challenges.

Role and responsibilities

You will serve as a senior advisor, helping ASML assess and embed risk considerations into the company’s most critical strategic directions and transformation initiatives.

  • Lead risk assessments for strategic programs, ASML Prioritized Initiatives (API)’s and ASML’s overall strategic narrative, including emerging risk reviews and consultations.
  • Engage across sectors and functions to ensure ownership of strategic risks and appropriate mitigation measures (e.g., ERP program), identifying and evaluating potential gaps in risk mitigation.
  • Translate high-level risk trends into actionable insights and scenarios to enable senior management to integrate risk insights into long-term decisions.
  • Facilitate strategic risk workshops and actively participate in training and coaching relevant teams (e.g., Strategy Team) to embed risk management in their workstreams.
  • Contribute to the risk section in ASML’s Annual Report and corporate governance materials.
  • Serve as a key sparring partner for senior leadership and corporate teams in ASML’s strategy development process.

Education and experience

To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, risk management, economics, or technology).
  • At least 15 years of experience in risk, strategy, or enterprise advisory roles within large, global organizations.
  • Proven ability to advise at Board or Executive level, and lead consultations across functions.
  • Deep experience in enterprise and strategic risk management, scenario analysis, and risk integration.
  • Familiarity with strategic transformation and change management in complex business environments.

Skills

You will operate at the highest levels of ASML’s risk and strategy space, which requires a unique mix of analytical, interpersonal, and visionary capabilities.

Key competencies include:

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and consulting skills.
  • High-level stakeholder management and political sensitivity.
  • Enterprise risk insight with deep understanding of interdependencies.
  • Sound judgment, decision quality, and a coaching mindset.
