Automotive Network scenario is a fast changing environment. With traditionally open network systems with predominantly CAN/LIN/Flexray based communications, networks are evolving to domain based networks with a combination of these classic In Vehicle Networking (IVN) network technologies along with Ethernet. The IVN plays a key role in making more complex functionality possible in today’s car. Such functionality is needed to make it safer and comfortable for road users with systems such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for partially autonomous driving to the eventual goal of fully automated driving. As with any network, security is a prime concern for Automotive OEMs and users alike. Malicious hacking attacks can easily jeopardize people’s lives and cause significant property damage. Making the network secure eventually translates to making the network elements safer. NXP as an industry leading vendor for such devices places a lot of importance to make sure that car networks remain safe.

NXP, PL-IVN is looking for bright, motivated students for work assignments to be part of this journey and help us improve and enhance the performance our product portfolio.

Projectomschrijving

The work assignment will include:

• Understanding vehicle architectures and technologies used for communication
• Study and investigate potential vulnerabilities that are possible in such networks
• Evaluate the impact of current general security techniques being implemented in IVN devices.
• Propose techniques and methodologies to improve security
• Build demonstrators to showcase feature effectiveness of our devices

Eisen van student

Your profile:

• Automotive, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering of Embedded Systems Bachelor students
• Background on network with an affinity for working on security aspects of network – such as encryption and authentication techniques.
• Good analytical and practical skills, preferably experienced with building up prototype demonstrators
• Affinity with automotive electronics
