As a Technical Writer, your job will focus on creating clear, comprehensive, and user-focused documentation for cutting-edge technology solutions. You’ll play a key role in advancing projects that shape the future, helping our clients stay ahead in a rapidly evolving high-tech world. You will be primarily responsible for producing documentation for a maritime and Defence product – a highly complex technical system – ensuring all stakeholders, from sales teams to operators and engineers, have the right information, at the right time, in the right format.

Main responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the technical architecture and operational workflows of the maritime and defence product to create accurate and insightful documentation.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and marketing to gather information and translate technical language into clear, user-friendly content.
  • Create content using tools such as MadCap Flare, Markdown, and manage versions via Git.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with standards such as those from the Society for Technical Communication (STC) or similar frameworks.
  • Produce user manuals, API documentation, installation guides, quick-start materials, and system overviews.
  • Review and edit content for clarity, grammar, and technical accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with technical writing tools like MadCap Flare and Markdown.
  • Understanding of Git version control is considered a plus.
  • Previous exposure to technical communication standards or certifications (e.g., from STC) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and business teams.
  • A proactive mindset and curiosity for understanding complex technical systems.

Our story

At S[&]T we contribute to a safer life on earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. We oversee data from instruments to application, and apply our expertise within our software frameworks, information products and consultancy.

Our society relies on space and scientific instruments for climate change monitoring, navigation, defence and national security, and other crucial services we all use in our daily lives. These instruments produce an enormous quantity of complex data, and our goal is to unlock its value.

We have more than 20 years of experience working on instrument calibration, the creation of data quality monitoring tools, the development of real-time data processing frameworks, and the development of application-specific algorithms. With this, we help organisations, governments and industries to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision making. We focus on the following domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and High-Tech Consulting.
