Pilot Plant Internship Opportunity at Kraft Heinz

About the Role

Pilot Plant Intern

Start date: September 2025

Duration: 6 months

During your assignment, you will be part of the D&EM (Developed and Emerging Markets) R&D team. You’ll be working in a high performing team, alongside peers always trying to reach the next level. You’ll be reporting into Francesco Torraca, Process Design & Pilot Plant Manager. As an integrated team member, we welcome you to take part in the team’s activities such as team meetings & category meetings which will give you a real feel for the company and the business. Get ready for a lot of exposure to internal senior stakeholders. The delivery of the Process Optimization & Line Validation Protocols will be your primary responsibility.

Project brief

You will be responsible for the development of standardization procedures and protocol to operate and validate new-technology equipment that will enable continuous improvement of our production processes and development of novel process design. Furthermore, you’ll support the team for project trials.

Key activities

  • Learning how to operate the key equipment in the Pilot Plant, instrumental for the development of the Kraft Heinz future portfolio.
  • Support the team doing pilot plant trials with different unit operations and the key unit operation under investigation
  • Developing and validating new protocols and procedures to standardize ways of working
  • Set conclusions & recommendations.
  • Sharing knowledge within the HIC and other departments (presentation and final report).

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s level in food processing technology or chemical food/chemical related engineering
  • Must have process technology/engineering/microbiology understanding
  • Must be hands on with practical work and writing down instructions
  • Work Experience: minimal
  • Knowledge: Food processing, unit operations, microbiology
  • Language Knowledge: English

  • You are enrolled at a university for at least 50% study load for the duration of the internship.
  • NOTE: EU working rights are required (Either you have EU Citizenship, you are studying in the Netherlands or have relevant student work visa)
