Internship Healthcare Data Scientist at Philips

Start: July (or latest August / September)

Duration: 6 months

About the role:

You will work closely with our Clinical Insights and AI team, a dynamic group of clinical researchers, product-focused software developers, and data scientists dedicated to extracting valuable insights from medical data. Through analytics reports and machine learning models, this team generates actionable patient and clinical practice outcomes that drive transformative care and foster the development of innovative healthcare products. Our department plays a pivotal role in advancing analytic competencies across Philips Enterprise Informatics products, including tele critical care, benchmarking, and data analytics initiatives. Additionally, we evaluate clinical decision support features for both existing and new product offerings, continually enhancing healthcare delivery.

  • Collaborate with clinicians and product managers to understand business needs and translate them into models and extract analytical insights.
  • Develop and evaluate predictive models that use multiple data sources, including labs, vitals and demographics.
  • Communicate findings in technical reports in scientific language to support product claims.
  • Design and develop data analysis and visualizations and support customer data analytics processes.

You're the right fit if:

  • You are studying towards your Master in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or related studies.
  • Strong understanding of data science concepts and methodologies. Experience with machine learning algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, reinforcement learning, dimensionality reduction.
  • Experience with SQL, Python ML and statistics frameworks.
  • Desirable: experience with medical data and Amazon Web Services Sagemaker and S3.

In return, we offer you:

  • Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.
  • Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300 net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255 net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the landlord, and your normal home-work travel distance needs to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) needs to be more than 1.5 hours.
  • Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192 net.
  • Paid holidays per internship term.
  • The opportunity to buy Philips equipment at our Philips shop.
