Senior Project Cost Controller

As a Senior Project Cost Controller, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing this ambitious billion-euro greenfield project to life, ensuring financial precision and accountability every step of the way.

About the Role

You’ll be the CFO’s and Project Director's trusted advisor, providing sharp financial insights that steer our strategic decisions. Your expertise will shine as you monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and strategic objectives, keeping our stakeholders in the loop with our impressive progress. Your expertise in cost controlling, reporting and forecasting will be crucial.

As we build our pioneering SAF plant in Delfzijl, you'll oversee project controlling, assessing risks, and ensuring our goals are met on time and within budget. At the forefront of our technological advancements, you will contribute to the implementation of a cutting-edge ERP system, laying the foundation for a top-tier financial administration for the future.

Post-startup in 2028, you’ll take charge of analyzing and reporting on factory performance, focusing on SAF and side-product cost prices and gross profit margins.

Your collaborative spirit will be crucial as you partner with colleagues at our headquarters and become a key business ally for the Delfzijl plant project and factory management. Your strategic thinking and business acumen will be instrumental in driving our success and achieving our ambitious goals, making you a vital player in our journey towards innovation and growth.

Your Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for establishing an effective cost control function, including processes, reporting and systems:

• Monitor and analyse costs across project scopes (LSTK execution, utility connections, owner’s costs).
• Develop and adjust budgets, issue detailed cost reports, and manage forecasts to completion.
• Establishing the processes and systems/tools needed in order to monitor budgets effectively (such as implementing a PO tool).
• Support financial reporting to project lenders, ensuring timely release of funds.
• Proactively identify cost trends, mitigate risks, and provide expert advice on contractor claims.
• Contribute to project risk analyses and manage cost-related risk mitigations.
• Support VAT, taxation, and transfer pricing strategies for the DSL-01 project.
• Act as a key business partner, ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders.

Your profile

As a growing company in a rapidly developing industry, we are looking for someone who likes to play an active role in building out our business and is not afraid of change. Ideally, you recognise yourself in the following:

• Relevant degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in project/maintenance cost controlling.
• Expertise in Excel, financial reporting, and forecasting.
• Proven track record in ERP system implementation and optimization.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, with excellent communication skills.
• Analytical, proactive, and a true team player with a fun and flexible personality.
• Knowledge of taxation, VAT, and transfer pricing.
