At TenneT, we seek professionals who contribute to the future of our energy grid. We expect you to bring the right experience and skills to make a valuable impact on our team and mission. The energy transition requires innovative technical solutions to ensure a stable and future-proof electricity grid. As Site Inspector - Supervisor Jacket Construction for our 2GW HVDC projects, your expertise will focus on and oversee the safe and compliant construction of three jackets for the offshore platforms at our contractor's site in Vlissingen.

Your profile and background

  • Technical Qualifications: NDT Level II (preferably Level III) and coating inspection certification (e.g., NACE, FROSIO) are strongly preferred.

  • Industry Experience: Proven experience in offshore steel structure construction and high-level QA/QC environments, with solid knowledge of DNV standards (e.g., DNVGL-OS-C401) and ISO-12944 for coatings.

  • Autonomy & Responsibility: Capable of working independently without direct on-site supervision, taking full ownership of assigned responsibilities.

  • Quality & Construction Expertise: Strong understanding of construction methods, quality systems, and related testing methods throughout all construction phases.

  • Soft Skills: Proactive, communicative team player with excellent time management and interpersonal skills.

  • IT & Language Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Office and general PC skills, with fluent English in both speaking and writing.

Your contribution to TenneT

As Site Inspector - Supervisor Jacket Construction (Vlissingen) you are part of the platform team responsible for the delivery of offshore platforms for the IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma, and Nederwiek Beta windfarms, which will generate a combined 3 x 2GW of offshore wind energy.

The stations contractor handles the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the platforms. As the client, the TenneT platform team ensures the contractor's work is carried out safely, on time, and in line with design, quality, and budget standards.

Your role is to oversee the safe and compliant construction of the jackets (substructures) for these platforms. You’ll work closely with the QA/QC Lead, SHE Manager, and (Sub) Project Leads, and report to the Sub Project Lead – Structure and T&I.

You will be the sole TenneT representative on-site in Vlissingen, serving as the main point of contact for the contractor at the jacket construction yard.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: Act as TenneT’s on-site representative, maintaining clear and professional communication with the contractor without disrupting operations. This requires diplomacy, clarity, and the ability to represent TenneT’s interests professionally on-site.

  • In-depth technical understanding of offshore jacket construction and quality control: Oversee construction quality, including welding, coatings, and materials, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and reporting deviations.

  • Strong knowledge and enforcement of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards: You observe contractor work activities, take action in case of unsafe situations (including stopping work if needed), and report incidents or accidents. This role requires a proactive and assertive safety mindset.

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and certification processes: Coordinate with certifying authorities on inspections, material tests, and regulatory compliance.

  • Understanding of construction processes and project planning: Review contractor’s schedule, track progress, and identify risks or delays impacting construction.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills: Keep daily records, review drawings, and support administrative tasks like redlining and as-built documentation.
