Stageplek Smart Reporting

Intern-/traineeship description

IHC Services – Operations strives during both guarantee period and during the further lifetime of a vessel to prevent problems with vessels of clients in order to maximize uptime of a vessel. If problems do occur IHC Services - Operations tries to solve these problems as quickly as possible to minimize down time of a vessel. To do this IHC Services - Operations uses different types of data. This means that a lot of information has to be registered. This is done by field service engineers who are onboard of the vessel of the client, which can be on various locations around the world, but also by Superintendents in the office processing service requests from clients. At Kinderdijk, the Netherlands the Superintendents use this information to make decisions to solve the problem together with the field service engineer. The management of IHC Asset Services uses the information for their evaluations and make tactical or strategic decisions.

The reporting system IHC Services – Operations currently is using is a stand-alone word document where Superintendents and field service engineers can insert their information on their vessels/installation visits. Within the current possibilities with regard to “smart-reporting” we are looking for a new reporting system.

Improvements can be done in the following three areas:

  • Collecting and registration of information.
  • Reporting tools and analyzing information.
  • Main process.
  • Integration of the IHC foreign offices and other service providing units.

Desired output:

  • Redesigned reporting tool concept which is complementary to the main process of IHC Services - Operations.
  • A business plan of what reporting tools (top 3 or 5) are available and would fit the requirements most. New reporting tool must be compatible and able to be integrated with our current data management and ERP systems. Business plan must contain investment values and planning for execution.
  • Meet overall requirements of Royal IHC. There are some requirements imposed by Royal IHC, which IHC Asset Services has to follow.
