Graduation Internship: Operations Research

The Supply Chain & Logistics Consultancy Group is offering an exciting Operations Research graduation internship opportunity focused on optimizing the schedule of a shipping company. The goal of this project is to develop an advanced optimization model to determine the most efficient schedule for visiting various ports. This involves planning the sequence and timing of port visits to maximize operational efficiency and minimize costs.

What will you do

  • Conduct research and analysis on current scheduling practices and constraints;
  • Develop and implement an advanced optimization model using techniques such as column generation or genetic algorithms;
  • Collaborate with our team to gather data and insights necessary for the model;
  • Test and validate the optimization model to ensure its effectiveness;
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.

What you bring

We are looking for an intern currently pursuing a Master's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with optimization techniques and algorithms (e.g., column generation, genetic algorithms).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), R, AIMMS, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate findings and collaborate with team members.
