The Vegetarian Butcher: Join the Food Revolution

Temporary Role: 8 to 12 Months

Meat to please you! At the Vegetarian Butcher, we’re looking for new ‘meat on the block’ to join us in the biggest food revolution of all times.

On October 4th (world animal day) 2010, Jaap Korteweg, 9th generation farmer and meat lover, founded The Vegetarian Butcher. Together with a devoted team of chefs and scientists, he created innovative and sustainable meat successors directly from beans and legumes. Great tasting meat products, perfect imitations in flavor, texture, and juiciness, but without the use of the animal. We sacrifice nothing! This was the start of our mission: to become the biggest butcher in the world.

At our core, we are the purpose-driven rebels who want to be the first and the best on the plant-based meat market. We try to make our mission a reality through Craftmanship, Human(e) Connections, Entrepreneurship, Rebelliousness, Humour, Passion, Optimism, Sustainability, and Pioneering.

By now, we are present in roughly 55 markets, partnering with some of the biggest global (food) chains like Burger King, Subway, and Starbucks. In this journey, we are expanding & growing, therefore we are looking for a Global Business Development Lead who has the passion to change the world!

What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be?

  • You will report into the Commercial Director and lead a team of 4 Global Business Development managers.
  • Manage E2E Global Partnerships & Key Accounts within the Food Chains Industry and work closely with a cross-functional team to execute impactful Global agreements.
  • Develop commercial strategy through winning business models, customer plays & dynamics, portfolio & price points, route to market, geographies to focus on, business priorities, etc.
  • Drive pro-actively generation of new Sales Leads & Develop key sales materials (e.g., proposals, slides, analyses) & deliver presentations, pitch decks for key customer interactions.
  • Set clear KPI standards for expansion plans and evaluate success when rolling out.
  • Ensure market & teams are well equipped to win key customers & channels.
  • Develop customer play strategies, commercial playbooks, learning sharing in customer space.
  • Play a pivotal role in the international business development of The Vegetarian Butcher.
  • Be a key driver in The Vegetarian Butcher becoming the biggest butcher in the world!

Key Requirements for This “Chop”

  • Strong consumer and customer focus / strong at customer contact.
  • Project management skills and experience in working with cross-functional teams in a high pace environment.
  • Proven leadership and line management skills.
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal) and fluency in English.
  • Analytical & structured thinker.
  • Good negotiator: able to influence, also in informal decision structures.
  • A person that easily connects.
  • Pro-active leadership mindset.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional, multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong growth mindset, background in marketing/category growth is a plus.
