Automation Engineer

What are you going to do?

The fun and challenging part of this job is that you run the entire project from A to Z: you ask the project requirements; you design; you adjust your design until it is final; you take care of the documentation and you are in contact with the technician on board who will install your design. Besides this challenge, we also expect you to participate in the quality improvement process. You enjoy learning new tooling, but you also think along to improve tooling. You see, we expect a lot from you! But you don't do it alone. You work in a team with 2 more professionals. You work according to the process agreements made in the team. Both working independently and working in a team appeal to you.

In a project you will work on, you could think of: design of a conning screen, a system to operate wipers, deck lighting, ship horn or signaling, searchlight operation, adapted chart configurations, adaptations to software or your own design of an information dashboard on the bridge of a ship.

Your responsibilities:

  • Designing conning and alarm systems using various SCADA packages;
  • Designing and programming PLC operating systems;
  • Preparing required documentation (schematics, design and test plans);
  • Transfer to field service of equipment created;
  • Managing automation projects on board ships.

Who are you?

As an automation engineer, you are someone who likes to work with precision and accuracy. You know your way around the organisation and can communicate clearly and clearly.

For this position, we ask of you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of and experience with PLC programming (WAGO/CoDeSys), in IL and ST code and ladder diagram;
  • Knowledge and ability to translate drawings into functional specifications and working Scada/PLC software;
  • Knowledge of SCADA/HMI applications, knowledge of Citect is an advantage as many old projects are built with it;
  • Willingness to learn the new SCADA software Lynx and willing to actively contribute to its improvement;
  • Both working in a team and working independently on projects appeals to you;
  • Clear communication in Dutch and English
  • You are allowed to work in the Netherlands.

What will you get in return?

  • Working conditions that match your responsibilities;
  • An organisation with short lines of communication where decisions can be taken quickly;
  • Access to online training in connection with your own development;
  • At least 25 holidays (for full-time employment);
  • Additional leave days if you do not fall ill;
  • Opportunity to work from home (working partly from home is possible at a later stage by mutual agreement (after the induction period, of course), subject to work permitting).
  • Daily well catered lunch with salad bar;
  • Travel allowance (our office is accessible by public transport, but there is also ample parking);
  • Good pension scheme for which you pay a low contribution as an employee;
  • Fun activities with colleagues are organised regularly.
