Junior Financial Accountant

In this role, you will assist in all financial activities related to AP, GL, and C&B within JTI's Netherlands Market to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting records in accordance with company requirements, as well as local rules and regulations. You will assist with tax compliance (Excise Tax, CIT, Transfer Pricing, and VAT) and the preparation of related filings. You will also support internal and external audit requirements, coordinate and assist in global and local projects, and provide support to other departments within the market, acting as a true business partner.

In line with J-SOX requirements, the associate will be responsible for the effective operation of all J-SOX GRM controls assigned to the position. The role involves close collaboration with the shared service center (GBS) and dedicating at least 30% of the time to ad hoc requests.

Position:

Accounts Payable:

  • Coordinate vendor invoices with the Shared Service Center (GBS), including tracing requisitioners, PO numbers, incorrect invoices, reminders, and contact with vendors.
  • Manage requests of all kinds from local employees.
  • Prepare and submit various templates.

General Ledger:

  • Reconcile GL accounts, prepare and send journal vouchers, and verify postings, clearings, accruals, and reclassifications.
  • Provide cost information for budget holders.
  • C&B Transactions: Clear accounts for various bank accounts.
  • Prepare and submit various templates.

Excise Tax, CIT, Transfer Pricing, and VAT:

  • Assist in preparing tax filings (Excise Tax, CIT, Transfer Pricing, and VAT), including follow-up on required tax payments.
  • Reconcile and follow up on tax-related GL balances.

Internal and External Audit:

  • Support internal and external audits, including preparing Financial Statements, collecting audit evidence, and addressing other audit requests.

J-SOX GRM Controls:

  • Ensure the effective operation of all J-SOX GRM controls assigned to the position.
  • Fulfill all global J-SOX requirements related to the assigned controls.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Gain familiarity with the organization's accounting systems.
  • Understand the workflows for Accounts Payable, General Ledger, C&B (Compensation & Benefits), JSOX, TAX processes within the JTI Netherlands Market.
  • Build relationships with the Shared Service Center (GBS), vendors, colleagues, budget holders, and other departments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in accounting (or equivalent)
  • Preferably at least 2 years of experience in broader accounting, including General Ledger (GL), within an international company. Knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP is a plus.
  • English & Dutch (Dutch preferred)
  • Enhanced MS Office knowledge. SAP or similar ERP system experience and Power BI is an advantage
