Your Role in Our Story:

As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer at ACT, you will have a key role in managing and modernizing the Business Intelligence Platform. The BI Platform is completely built on top of Microsoft Azure SaaS Services and follows the Microsoft Reference Architecture for small and midsize businesses. In addition to daily tasks like Data Analysis, Data Integration, Data Modelling and Report Design, as part of the BI team you will also be responsible for activities like gathering the requirements from the business, testing, implementing or changing the CI/CD pipelines and monitoring the usage of the deliverables.

We are hiring Senior BI Engineers with a strong focus on back-end development, technology platform development, and technical expertise to join our team. On a tactical and strategical level your input would be valuable regarding the changes that will happen to the platform including but not limited to the addition or removal of Azure Services, cost optimization, security and compliance improvements and task automation. In addition, transitioning to Microsoft Fabric is in the roadmap together with replacing a few components of the Platform in order to enable additional technical capabilities like unit testing and increase the operational efficiency.

Operational activities like Business Support, performing bi-weekly releases are shared across the team members and thus they will also be your responsibility from time to time. In addition, we aim to document our BI Platform and thus you will be documenting in Confluence the new Data Integration pipelines, new Data Models etc.

You will be actively participating in all scrum activities in BI and help the team to further improve the way of working. You will work with most of the departments in the company and thus build a high-level view of the business. Prior knowledge in the business areas including Sales, Finance, Operations, Risk is highly appreciated.

• Managing and further enriching the BI Data Warehouse.
• Integrating new source systems and transforming data using Azure Data Factory.
• Designing, Implementing and Documenting new Data Models.
• Creating and Optimizing Data Pipelines.
• Developing and managing Semantic Models in Power BI and Tabular Models in AAS based on best practices recommended from Microsoft.
• Implement Row Level Security in AAS and Power BI.
• Creating and updating Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Creating or enriching the CI/CD Pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Migrating reports from Excel and other legacy tools to the Data Warehouse and Power BI platform.
• Communicating well with business users and helping them turn their business requirements into desired output.
• Demonstrating Data and Analytics solutions to the business counterparts.

Your Expertise:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with Microsoft Azure or other Cloud Platforms is required.
• Educational background in IT & Business, Business Information Technology, or equivalent.
• Proficient knowledge of SQL, TSQL, PL/SQL or other variants.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, star schema, snowflake schema, and data vault methodologies.
• Able to write, execute, interpret and optimize queries.
• Experience with Power BI / Data visualization tools.
• Experience with Git and building CI/CD Pipelines are a plus.
• Knowledge of different Microsoft Reference Architectures for Business Intelligence.
• Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Synapse Analytics, PowerApps and Azure Automation is an advantage.
• Experience with technologies including DataBricks, Dbt, Snowflake or other cloud data platforms is an advantage.
• Knowledge on the concepts including Medallion Architecture, Data Mesh, Data Vault is an advantage.
• Knowledge of data streaming and real-time analytics solutions is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Python or a similar programming language is an advantage.
