Senior Architect Software Development Environments

Introduction to the job

IT R&D is responsible for the complete software development environments that is used by more than 5000 software developers within ASML. This environment is developed and supported in close cooperation with the ASML software development community. Key challenge is to balance the delivery of the state-of-the-art development environment while safeguarding the stability, reliability and support of mature development environments.

To effectively manage the scope of our different development environments, we have grouped several components into so called domains with each an accountable owner. We are looking for a senior architect who can design IT solutions and has an intrinsic understanding of software development and integration processes to join one of our domains.

Role and responsibilities

As a senior architect you are end-responsible for the architecture of a set of components within our development environment. You do this together with multiple team architects. Additionally, you are part of the department architecture team, within this team you represent the software configuration management, version control, and artifact management functions.

The Department architecture team follows IEEE based system engineering approaches to breakdown system level requirement into workable solution, you are a key player in this translation. As Domain Architect, you’ll:

  • Contribute to system architecture by creating high-level architecture documents
  • Interact with end-users and senior stakeholders to align business needs and processes. You’ll translate these into the right technical solutions
  • Own the architecture for the version control systems, software configuration management and artifact management functions
  • Lead multiple teams in creation of low-level architecture documentation
  • Drive teams towards high quality technical implementations
  • Collaborate with the domain owner on roadmap creation.

Education and experience
To help us tackle the technical challenges we face, you’ll need experience working on High Tech products & with complex processes. As Domain Architect, you’ll need:

  • 5+ years proven experience working as a software engineer working in a highly complex technical and corporate environment
  • 3+ years proven experience working as a senior architect, creating and aligning requirements and designs for SW development environment ecosystems, with cross-team scope
  • Proven experience in writing technical documents and proven ability to communicate effectively in academic-level English with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Proven experience with requirements engineering
  • Experience as technical lead/software architect for at least 3 years
  • Extensive experience in software configuration management, including hands-on experience with various programming languages, frameworks, and tools
  • Experience with designing and/or implementing version control systems such as GitHub/ClearCase/SVN/Bitbucket and artifact management tools such as JFrog, Artifactory/Nexus

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
