About the role:
The Head of Information security is responsible for leading the organization's cybersecurity program, including the design, implementation, and management of security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the company’s digital assets. This role focuses on mitigating security risks, managing incident responses, and ensuring the protection of sensitive data while staying aligned with the organization’s business goals.
The impact you’ll make:
- Cybersecurity Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive cybersecurity strategies, policies, and programs aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks, ensuring that appropriate controls and risk mitigation strategies are in place.
- Incident Response: Lead the organization’s incident response program, including monitoring, detection, and response to security incidents and breaches.
- Security Operations: Oversee daily security operations, including security monitoring, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and incident handling.
- Security Architecture: Design, implement, and manage security architecture, ensuring the secure configuration and deployment of IT infrastructure, systems, and networks.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a cybersecurity team, including security analysts, engineers, and threat intelligence experts. Provide mentoring, training, and professional development for staff.
- Security Awareness & Training: Develop and deliver ongoing cybersecurity awareness and training programs for all employees to enhance security awareness across the organization.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure the organization complies with relevant regulatory frameworks, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and other applicable security standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the IT, legal, compliance, and business teams to integrate security into organizational processes and projects.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external security vendors, consultants, and service providers, ensuring high-quality services and support for the company’s security initiatives.
- Security Audits & Assessments: Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and assessments to evaluate the organization’s security posture and implement improvements as needed.
- Budget Management: Manage the cybersecurity budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet organizational security goals.
The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, or equivalent are considered a plus
- Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Experience managing security operations, incident response, and security governance in a corporate environment.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus, SIEM, DLP, etc.
- Proficiency in vulnerability management, threat analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of cloud security, application security, and network security architectures.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and mentoring a cybersecurity team, with strong project management and decision-making skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in sectors with specific regulatory requirements (e.g., finance, healthcare, government).
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or COBIT.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
- Experience in threat hunting and proactive threat intelligence gathering.
