About CoolGames
Founded in 2010, CoolGames is a leading HTML5-specialized studio based in the historic center of Amsterdam developing high-quality casual games.

Games distribution via new platforms, beyond the traditional app-stores, is taking off quickly. Players can now instantly start a game from within Facebook, Discord, Netflix, and many other ‘Big Tech’ game channels. And even the web is back as a sizable (HTML5 based) games distribution channel, with more people playing via websites each year.

In this changing landscape, where Apple and Google are no longer the sole destinations for casual gamers, CoolGames is successfully publishing high-quality HTML5 games that are played by millions every month. For our studio, we have an ambitious roadmap to start the development of new game projects to further expand our portfolio for the years ahead.

About the Internship

You will be part of a multidisciplinary development team collaborating with game designers, game artists, quality assurance engineers, and fellow game developers. You work on developing new titles or evolving existing games.

You work closely with your internship coordinator to get hands-on professional experience delivering robust code and meeting established deadlines.

Next to working on features for our games your responsibilities might include optimization, debugging, fixing bugs, taking part in code reviews, working with requirements, or working on platform compatibility.

Requirements

About you
You are proactive and thrive on taking ownership and responsibility. You strive to write clean, readable, and maintainable code. You are open to feedback and eager to learn. You embrace collaboration and have a “you can count on me” attitude. You flourish in an environment where teamwork and communication are important.

The right candidate meets most of the following requirements:

• Demonstrable proficiency with at least one programming language;
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices;
• Experience with version control tools like git;
• Solid knowledge of development best practices;
• Experience with HTML5 games, Typescript, and JavaScript is a plus;
• Experience with web game tech (e.g. PIXI/Phaser/Three.js) is a plus;
