About the role

As an Associate Design Manager within NPD, you will support project leadership in the design and delivery of new Dyson technology projects whilst continuing to contribute significant technical output. Working with diverse and cross-functional teams, delivering highly complex technology projects that will bring significant strategic value to the organisation, you will assume a high degree of both responsibility and autonomy.

Responsibilities may come in the form of leading a significant and complex work package as part of a larger high value/high complexity project; acting as second in command to the Senior/Head of DM; or leading a small standalone project.

Working closely with Senior Stakeholders across RDD and beyond, you will be accountable for supporting in the development of key-to-vision technologies and features on complex projects that drive new Dyson IP and strengthens our portfolio. You will be empowered to balance technical risks, challenge ways of thinking, champion the product vision, drive timely delivery and assume a high degree of strategic accountability throughout.

  • Lead a small diverse, multi-disciplined team to input to and deliver the product vision.
  • Assume direct responsibility for the design, development and delivery of comprehensive Attachments, Accessories or Device Evo’s under the stewardship of Head of DM/Category.
  • Organise and delegate key design and development tasks to the team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, spec, cost and quality.
  • Lead a global cross team to define the requirements and ensure the viability of attachments and evo products within the delivery stream.
  • Drive delivery of projects against a benchmark <50wk plan, ensuring controlled and predictable delivery to Launch.
  • Protect Dyson's vision for the projects, bringing key user-facing decisions back to DDR, and maintaining excellent communication with key RDD/Business Unit stakeholders.
  • Manage project development within agreed OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
  • Maintain close alignment with Supply Chain through CM award, CAPEX approval, Engineering builds, line buy-off and production ramp. Supporting on-site where required.
  • Support Commercial in developing and executing an agreed ‘Beauty-relevant’ GTM strategy.
  • Lead the Project Leadership Team from Transfer to Launch Readiness, setting clear requirements and target values.

About You

  • Proven demonstrable experience in Product Innovation & Design and Development.
  • A passion to lead engineering teams and deliver against organisational objectives.
  • A strong track record of high-performance whilst delivering a complex and strategically important projects.
  • An ability to lead, inspire and instil a high-performing culture across multi-functional teams.
  • Able to present and communicate complex information simply to a variety of audiences including senior and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded, financially savvy, able to get best value from the product & business.
