Data Engineer – Cross-Skilling Program

Does this sound like you?

You are an engineer with a pragmatic attitude. You feel the weight of responsibility that comes with taking systems into production. You easily switch between scripting and structured programming in typed languages. You understand cloud, provisioning, and automation and are eager to learn more and build robust systems next to our experienced team!

How you will help to create value with Data & AI

At Xebia Data we build strong Data & AI practices to deliver value to our clients and their customers. In the past our team of data professionals has predicted the daily demand for millions of loaves of bread, built advanced energy-saving algorithms to nationwide scale, and set up data innovation labs at large multinational corporations. We enjoy great success in making top companies AI-driven — just think of what more we can achieve when YOU join our team!

As a data engineer, you are responsible for the implementation of the foundations of data-intensive systems. You develop enabling infrastructure to store, transform and process data at scale and in the cloud. You make sure that data is stored safely and securely using the technology that you see fit for the job.

This program is designed for people with professional experience in data or related technical fields, particularly those familiar with modern tech stacks in data and/or software development. Over one month, you’ll dive into the essential tech fundamentals in data and start your journey as a consultant for our clients in your second month. You’ll have our experienced team by your side to support you the whole way!

What will you do to make data-intensive applications work effectively and securely?

With your knowledge of software engineering, cloud, clusters, queues, containers, streaming, or graphs you work on the backbone of the data infrastructure. There is lots of data to store, many jobs to run and schedule, much configuration to be dealt with. You work at the client in teams that are a mix of people from Xebia and the client and pick up the work that is related to that backbone on which the team is building.

When you’re working on-site with a client you may come across something that is really difficult to solve. We’ve got your back as we at Xebia work as a team and will help you solve your problems, because everybody at Xebia is just a quick message away and ready to help at any time.

Who Are We Looking For?

This Data Engineer position plays a central role in our clients’ teams, and therefore, we require at least two years of relevant professional experience in the field of data engineering or/and software engineering. Having said that, we like to be amazed, so if you have done something outstanding during your studies, like contributing to open source projects or starting your own company, we encourage you to apply.

The Cross-Skilling program is for candidates with data engineering or software engineering experience seeking to accelerate their technical prowess and focus on data. You will learn from seasoned colleagues and boost your career! If you don’t have at least two years of hands-on experience in data, software engineering or a related discipline like DevOps engineering, this program is not the right fit for you.

The program commences in September 2025, starting with a month of training conducted by our colleagues, designed to level up your technical skills. Following this, you’ll immediately embark on client projects with the support of the Xebia Data team!
