How do you make our customers happy?

By future-proofing bol’s logistics backbone. With 20 orders per second during peak moments, 13.5 million customers, and an ever-evolving partner network, forward-thinking is crucial. As an analytical thought leader, you’ll proactively address future logistics challenges by developing predictive models and thoroughly analyzing how we can continue to fulfill customer promises. As such, you’ll demonstrably impact the design and effectiveness of our entire logistics network – from warehouse to doorstep, with sustainability in mind.

The biggest challenge

Translating complex logistics challenges into scalable long-term solutions. You’ll take the lead in determining what we analyze without waiting for instructions or action lists. Success requires switching between deep analysis and practical applicability, between operational details and strategic perspectives. Combining data-driven precision with logistics insights is key to developing models that guide effective decision-making, enabling us to fulfill millions of customer promises.

What you'll do as Logistics Strategy Analyst

As a member of the Logistics Strategy team (approximately 10 professionals), you’ll team up with internal and external consultants to execute large-scale strategic projects. Projects that go to the heart of our comprehensive logistics chain’s efficiency, scalability, and future preparedness. The scope encompasses five core areas: capacity planning, commercial development, technological innovation, sustainable logistics, and process improvement. You’ll develop predictive models for each area and conduct in-depth analyses leveraging BigQuery and Python.

Your approach is hypothesis-driven: together with consultants, you’ll translate strategic topics into targeted analyses, combining data from diverse sources. You’ll spend part of your time developing and refining optimization models in Excel and Python to predict bottlenecks and cost trends. Skillful stakeholder management is a crucial success factor. You’ll actively involve operational teams in your analyses to gain a clear picture of current performance, and foster commitment to future scenarios. You’ll translate (partially unstructured) data into clear insights that support and accelerate decision-making. Core responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously refine predictive logistics models
  • Take ownership of end-to-end analyses and recommendations
  • Identify and analyze capacity bottlenecks and cost trends
  • Develop scenarios to boost logistics efficiency and sustainability
  • Build scalable solutions in Python and Excel
  • Inspire colleagues by promoting data-driven decision-making
  • Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Facilitate cross-functional analytical collaboration

Why you can make a difference

You combine a solid analytical background (in econometrics or a related field) with a proven ability to present complex insights clearly and persuasively. You demonstrate innate leadership skills, dare to make decisions based on (sometimes incomplete) data, and inspire others to do the same. You are proficient in Python, take a hypothesis-driven approach, and can effortlessly switch focus between details and the big picture.

  • Ivory tower thinker You consider practical applicability a by-product of scientific analyses
  • Unmethodical modeler You dive straight into the data without first establishing a robust analytical framework
  • Solitary puzzler You prefer solo analyses to proactively involving stakeholders
  • Pioneer in making progress You take the initiative to transform analyses into concrete actions
  • Impact maker You smoothly transition between data analysis and driving business impact
  • Methodical innovator You combine analytical prowess with the right tools to create innovative solutions, including demonstrable Python expertise

Where you'll work
