The Assignment

The stabilization conveyor for our robot applications ensures that the pig carcass is hanging in a stable position during the carcass measuring and processing of the robot arm. Since the launch of our robot applications, the stabilization conveyor has been under continuous improvement. Hygiene is becoming stricter and our current design does not fulfill the requirements anymore. Additionally, the cost price is too high for its function. There is a high demand from the market and within Marel to develop a new design for the stabilization conveyor that complies with hygiene requirements and with 50% cost reduction compared to the current design.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop a new design for the stabilization conveyor.

  • Set up project plan including activities, time, cost, risks.
  • Review current design.
  • Create a program of requirements.
  • Validate program of requirements with stakeholders.
  • Create Value Proposition / Business Case for the customer and for Marel.
  • Develop prototype with the team including mechanical design, hardware and software.
  • Create test specification for in-house test.

The Department Innovation – Sustainment & Maintenance

The department Sustainment & Maintenance is responsible for the product portfolio that is Free For Sale. This means we are maintaining to uphold the lifecycle of the product, sustaining to extend the lifecycle of a product and give advice to end the lifecycle of the product. Key activities are standardization & modularization, develop retrofits and modification packages according to our Product Development Process with all required deliverables.

Who Are You?

  • You follow an HBO or WO study in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics and are looking for a challenging graduation assignment.
  • Team player, who works well in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with or knowledge of 3D design tools. Preferred is Solidworks.
  • Result-driven approach.
  • English proficiency is a must.
