The laboratory of Experimental Transplantation and Intestinal Surgery (LETIS) accommodates translational-oriented research on liver disease, liver transplantation, and regenerative medicine. Research is performed in close collaboration with surgeons and clinicians. As a PhD candidate, you will be involved in a project concerning liver graft regeneration using 3-dimensional organoid cultures.
Erasmus MC is the largest academic hospital in the Netherlands and the prime national institute for organ transplantation medicine. One of the research lines of the department of Surgery is dedicated to liver transplantation. The research projects are translational and aim to contribute to improving the impaired long-term outcome of liver transplantation. The team has a good (inter)national reputation and works in close interaction with transplantation surgeons and hepatologists in our clinic. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for immunological, cell biological, and molecular research.
