Who will you be working with?

The Category Manager role reports to the Global Procurement Manager - Indirects, and will work with internal and external stakeholders across the group (Site Management Team, Site Procurement Teams, functional experts) to develop a coherent future-proofed supplier base strategy. They will work to support all sites across the Group, to drive supplier performance improvement and develop Group Supplier strategies moving away from a local selection strategy. This will involve managing the relationships with Group Suppliers on behalf of BDR Thermea, as well as drive cost down and ownership of performance improvement.

There will also be the opportunity to set in place supplier strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Build performance metrics, and performance against key costs, developing budgets, sustainability and performance related KPI’s.

On a daily basis you’ll be responsible for, but not limited to:

Contributing to Category sourcing strategies and ensures alignment with procurement policy and procedures.

  • Provides support to the Procurement Manager in developing the preferred suppliers list for a selection of indirect services/products
  • Owns the supply strategy for the Category area
  • Drives the cost down process for the Category area
  • Establishes service level agreements with end users, and key stakeholders in each location.
  • Observes and enforces purchasing ethics, including sustainability
  • Monitors supplier performance and informs relevant stakeholders about this performance under the guidance of procurement leadership.
  • Support the development of indirect Procurement processes, contracts and tool box.
  • Drive sustainable supplier selection process considering key criteria to support business goals.

Identifying stakeholder requirements and support the execution of Commodity plans.

  • Identifies and actions cost-reduction opportunities and procedures.
  • Liaises closely with end-users to determine their requirements, providing input into the sourcing process. Ensures specifications are sufficiently detailed in an appropriate format within tenders and contracts.
  • Negotiates local or regional contracts in conjunction with relevant procurement managers.
  • Regular reports out to Senior management

About you:

  • Team Working: able to collaborate and communicate across multi-functional matrix teams across the Group
  • Negotiation: Prepares for and applies a range of negotiating tactics to achieve win-win commercial and non-commercial outcomes.
  • Supply base management: Segments the supply base to optimise the number and mix of suppliers to direct resource investments accordingly. Experienced in developing multi location strategies, gaining buy in from all key stakeholders. Have an awareness of global partners for commodities within the indirect field.
  • Procurement due diligence: Ensures the organisation and its suppliers enter contracts aware of the relevant deliverables, timescales, costs, risks, sustainability plans and other commitments.
  • Working with data: Proficient in collecting, handling, analysing and presenting various types of data. Familiar with deployment and use of catalogues, and other methods to reduce none-value add activity within the plants.
