About this position

Haptics and human-machine interfaces are gradually taking over our everyday life. At TNO Holst Centre we work on hybrid printed and flexible electronics technologies to enable this transition, by imagining and realising new experiences. To make this possible, we are looking for a motivated student to work on novel electrical devices, able to adapt to the changes in the surrounding environment.

What will be your role?

Depending on your interest, field of study, and background, your tasks can comprise of thermomechanical modelling and simulations, materials processing, device design, testing, and characterization. You will be immersed in an international environment, within a research team of highly skilled professionals in different complementary areas such as 3D printing, electrical engineering, and materials science.

What we expect from you

We look for creative and proactive students (BSc or MSc), with an engineering background in, for instance: electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, applied physics, or materials science. Teamworking skills are important but also the ability to work independently is appreciated. Knowledge in and passion for new materials and performing simulations is a plus. Good spoken and written English is expected from the candidate.

It’s not just looking that interests us; you and your knowledge are essential to our innovation. That’s why we attach a great deal of value to your personal and professional development. You will, of course, be properly supervised during your work placement and be given the scope for you to get the best out of yourself. Furthermore, we provide:

  • A free membership of Jong TNO, where you can meet other TNO professionals and join several activities, such as sports activities, (work-related) courses or the yearly ski-trip.
  • Use of a laptop.
  • An allowance for travel expenses in case you don’t receive an OV-card.
