Together with your colleagues, you will develop Electronic Patient Records (EPRs) and contribute to smarter healthcare solutions. The Medicore EPR is one of the largest Symfony applications and has been around for 20 years! Our software is complex and extensive; this means you will constantly encounter new challenges and continue to learn. The changing laws and regulations in healthcare and privacy make your work as a Software Engineer particularly challenging.

What will you be doing on a day to day basis?

As a Senior Software Engineer at Medicore, you will work in a Scrum team with developers, testers, UX designers, and a Product Owner. You will also collaborate closely with data analysts, DevOps, and customer services. The entire department consists of 50 people who work on a day-to-day basis to enhance our EPR. You will play a crucial role within the organisation, building applications and services used every day by approximately 170,000 healthcare providers in the Netherlands.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Critically questioning and converting functional requirements into user stories with your team;
• Implementing user stories based on your technical designs;
• Reviewing colleagues’ code and contributing to the strategy and future vision of the development discipline;

Fun Fact: We work in two-week sprints, during which you won’t just be implementing user stories. One workday in those two weeks is set aside as our Fun Factor Friday/Thursday. This day is dedicated to you—your creativity, your development, your growth, and your opportunities for optimising workflows and software. It’s during this day that out-of-the-box ideas, such as integrating AI into the EPR, emerge. Together, we strive to make Medicore number one.

For the position of Senior PHP Software Engineer, we are seeking an eager and creative professional with 5 to 10 years of experience in PHP frameworks.

• Experience with REST-like APIs is a strong advantage.
• Experience with Symfony is a strong advantage.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience in writing efficient and reusable code while managing complex logic and workflows.
• Experience with containerisation is a strong plus.

Additionally, we are looking for these requirements:

• You have a completed qualification at higher professional (HBO) or university (WO) level.
• You have experience with Agile/Scrum product development.
• You are eager to learn and continue your personal development.
• You possess good communication skills.
