We are the naval division of the family-owned Damen Shipyards Group which employs 12,000 professionals globally. With a passion for technological innovation and sustainable solutions, we continue to push the boundaries in naval shipbuilding. You can be part of our team! Are you ready for duty?
The role
Damen Naval has the ambition to develop a methodology for Hull Condition Monitoring that incorporates the use of the ship’s digital twin, a virtual model prepared during the design stage. Combined with wave and sensor monitoring, it vastly enhances the value of predictive and preventive maintenance. Next to predictive maintenance, Structural Hull Monitoring (SHM) systems allow verification and optimization of design tools related to hydrodynamic loading and structural resistance. Damen Naval is continuously improving its products and developing the next generation of Structural Hull Monitoring methodologies is a key part of those developments.
Research in this field is ongoing to make these developments happen and determine how the next generation of naval vessels will be equipped with such systems. In addition, supporting research is needed to provide tools and methods to further optimize the design of these systems.
