Principal Technical Content Strategist and Editor

As the Principal Technical Content Strategy and Editor at Databricks, you will define and drive the technical content direction to inform data teams about how to build, innovate, and scale with confidence on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. You will own the strategy for the Databricks Blog, Databricks YouTube channel, and other technical content platforms, ensuring that practitioners—data engineers, data scientists, and architects—have access to clear, accurate, and actionable resources.

You will work closely with marketing, product management, developer relations, and field teams to develop high-quality content that reflects the latest advancements in data engineering, warehousing, analytics, and AI. Your expertise in content strategy, technical writing, and editing will shape how technical audiences engage with Databricks, making complex concepts more accessible and practical.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, a deep understanding of data, analytics, and AI, and a keen editorial eye. If you're passionate about turning complex concepts into clear, practical content that helps data professionals excel, this role is for you.

The impact you will have:

  • Define and execute the technical content strategy across Databricks’ Blog and YouTube channel, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps, market needs, and company objectives.
  • Establish and enforce editorial excellence, setting content guidelines and best practices for technical accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Ensure Databricks is the go-to source for technical thought leadership, crafting content that educates and engages practitioners, from data engineers to AI/ML professionals.
  • Review and refine high-impact content, serving as the editorial lead for technical blogs, whitepapers, tutorials, and solution guides.
  • Leverage data and insights to continuously optimize content for engagement, discoverability, and impact.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and developer relations teams to align technical content with product innovations and evolving customer needs.
  • Mentor and lead a growing team of technical writers and editors, building scalable processes to improve content development efficiency and quality.

What we look for:

Technical Expertise and Strategy

  • 10+ years of experience in content marketing, publishing, technical evangelism, or communications, with a strong focus on technical content.
  • Deep understanding of the Data and AI space, including familiarity with data engineering, data warehousing, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Proven experience developing content strategies tailored to technical audiences, such as data architects, data engineers, and data scientists.
  • Experience in translating complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and informative content that resonates with practitioners.

Editing and Content Development

  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and spoken), with the ability to craft high-quality content and refine messaging for technical accuracy and clarity
  • Proven technical editing expertise, ensuring consistency, engagement, and adherence to brand and technical standards
  • Experience in visual storytelling, effectively adapting content across digital platforms, including blogs, video, and documentation
  • Data-driven mindset, using analytics and audience insights to refine content strategy, optimize engagement, and summarize key findings for senior leadership

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Customer-obsessed, with a strong drive to create engaging, high-impact technical content that resonates with technical users.
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments, managing multiple priorities with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, marketing, and developer relations teams to align content with business and product priorities.
  • At the forefront of content marketing innovation, with experience leveraging the latest tools and technologies to accelerate content velocity and effectiveness.

This is a high-impact, strategic role that combines content strategy, technical expertise, and editorial excellence to strengthen Databricks’ leadership in Data and AI. It’s ideal for someone passionate about Data and AI technologies who can balance big-picture strategy with hands-on technical editing and storytelling. If you’re eager to shape the future of technical content at Databricks, we’d love to hear from you. 😊
