THE ROLE

As an interim Engineer in Technical Arrangements at Damen Naval, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that systems and components are arranged to meet stringent technical requirements while prioritizing maintainability, ergonomics, and operational safety. Collaborating closely with system specialists, safety engineers, and maintainability experts, you will strive to optimize the design of spaces where these systems are housed.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this interim role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing design and engineering activities related to the arrangements of technical spaces, such as engine rooms, pumprooms, steering gear rooms etc.
  • Contributing to the elaboration process and development of technical arrangements through requirements analysis, concept generation, weight estimations, ergonomics, and safety considerations.
  • Communicating the arrangement demands and possibilities by means of drawings, images, and presentations to support the engineering and procurement process.
  • Ensuring timely and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaising with internal engineering project teams to ensure a timely and high-quality engineering results.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in various design concepts and practices.
  • Experience in technologically advanced design and processes, preferably in complex new-built ships.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, and preferably Dutch.
  • Experience with 3DX engineering toolbox or Solid Edge would be advantageous.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • An attractive salary aligned with permanent staff.
  • Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.
  • Flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.

OTHER

This temporary assignment is exclusively offered on a secondment (detachering) or temporary employment contract basis. Freelance or ZZP agreements are not considered due to current Dutch legislation.
