About the Role

The Inbound Account Manager is responsible for engaging with agencies and intermediaries and STMJ to support and close specific opportunities that maximize advertising sales and exceed annual sales targets. The Account Executive role will also be responsible for ensuring all advertising processes are managed and executed correctly, whilst consulting with STMJ publishers, compliance, and our commercial agents and intermediary partners.

Responsibilities

  • Achieving advertising targets through incoming sales (inbound from individual enquiries, agencies, and intermediaries)
  • Incorporating the display advertising in journals, supplements, and other ad hoc publications as needed.
  • Reactive opportunity-driven engagement with customers, maximizing revenue and closing business.
  • Liaising with Societies sales and publishing to ensure advertising opportunities are shared, executed, maximized, and managed as proactively as possible.
  • Supporting and generating ideas to generate new opportunities, more efficient customer liaison, and driving management & closing down of opportunities.
  • Demonstrating sound knowledge of trends in media buying and promotional activities and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline).
  • Previous experience in account management, customer service, or sales, preferably within the academic publishing or STM (Scientific, Technical, and Medical) industry.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships with a focus on retention and growth.
  • Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of clients, understanding their unique needs, and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and persuasively with customers.
  • Familiarity with the needs of researchers, librarians, and institutions in accessing and disseminating scholarly content.
