The Role

The EMEA Retail Media Senior Manager will be part of a team implementing EMEA-wide media strategies, launching new product ranges, and coordinating campaigns across multiple platforms, as well as ensuring compliance locally. The role reports directly to the EMEA Media Director with a dotted line to the EMEA Ecommerce Director. You will be responsible for building and implementing Wella’s EMEA retail media strategy for the Wella Pro (Wella Care, Nioxin, Sebastian, OPI) & Retail brands (Wella, Clairol) in collaboration with our agency and local market teams. While scope is all retail media, the priority and focus is Amazon EMEA since Amazon is the dominant player within the retail media space.

Through strategic thinking and execution, the EMEA Retail Media Senior Manager will use the power of paid media to contribute to profitable and sustainable growth, reaching more consumers and driving incremental sales in an efficient way. They will ensure that retail media KPIs are met/exceeded and that plans directly contribute to incremental sales with clear and identifiable revenue building blocks.

The EMEA Retail Media Senior Manager will demonstrate leadership skills and the power of influence to ensure that EMEA media strategies are translated into local executions. This will require strong coordination and partnership with i) a network of local e-commerce communities across EMEA markets ii) brand and media team regionally and locally to ensure brand media and retail media are complementary iii) external partners and agencies. Operational excellence is imperative to ensure that ways of working and communication are efficient, effective, and optimized over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving results: Ecom net revenue growth and Media KPIs, overseeing the development of EMEA investment strategies and plans (predominantly Amazon media investment strategies)
  • Work in close collaboration with Head of Amazon Europe on key AMZ priorities & opportunity areas, ensuring these are activated through media
  • Ensure Media & Retail Ops work together to maximize media efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with EMEA Amazon media agency and local market teams to ensure effective media planning and best-in-class execution
  • Drive process to ensure operational efficiency across the region
  • Contribute to POVs and implementation of emerging retail media opportunities with an approach for tackling complexity and fragmentation. Develop frameworks for testing and execution, with accountability for defining priority KPIs
  • Lead, guide, and coordinate media budgets across EMEA (process, strategy, sufficiency)
  • Ensure retail media briefs are clear, concise, and timely
  • Manage and govern timelines for planning, execution, and reporting across the region
  • Track performance on an ongoing basis to ensure we are meeting/exceeding media KPIs and targets; work closely with the agency and markets to communicate and evaluate progress regularly against key metrics while constantly looking at ways to optimize performance
  • Oversee post-campaign reports and key takeaways, governing implementation of learnings across the region
  • Develop and execute ongoing retail media presentations for brands and leadership teams (including campaign performance rollups, competitive reporting, audience insight, and education sessions) to gain company-wide visibility and excitement around our plans, opportunities, and the latest updates in the retail media landscape
  • Develop direct relationships with key retail media partners to i) seek 1st to market innovation and opportunities ii) explore media-specific JBPs and regional deals
  • Collaborate closely with the Consumer & Category Intelligence team on understanding audiences and performance of campaigns through SOM trends and use of tools such as AMC
  • Collaborate closely with brand and influencer teams for development and execution of content on e-commerce platforms
  • Work with EMEA Media Director to ensure visibility into broader paid media strategies and plans to ensure all media is working harmoniously. Contribute to a single view of media by layering ecom retail media onto overall media laydowns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in marketing, business, or a related field
  • Experience in media with client or agency background, in roles specializing in Amazon & e-commerce/retail media
  • Ability to translate business targets and goals into media budgets and KPIs
  • Strong knowledge of the retail media landscape including current/emerging platforms & technologies (Amazon, Criteo, Citrus etc.), with solid understanding of Amazon advertising tools and platforms
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive decision-making and optimizations
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in growing strong partnerships with key e-commerce players
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to various audience levels within an organization
  • Ability to identify and drive improved ways of working on an ongoing basis
  • Experience in a dynamic, matrix organization
  • Beauty industry and EMEA regional experience is a plus
