The specific purpose of this role is to lead a team of product managers, each responsible for Barclays UK Domestic payment products and propositions for its Corporate Clients.
The primary focus will be to set strategic direction together with growing (and protecting) the product revenue for this extensive range of products through new and existing product development and its positioning within the wider payments business (Cash Sales and Relationship Directors).
- The Role Holder will need to understand the external market environment with specific focus on the wholesale changes planned across the UK payment schemes that will impact our client base’s payments strategy and requirements and hence our own development and innovation agenda.
- Utilise broad skills in payments and cash management and market knowledge to identify gaps in the product offering, designing market leading and innovative solutions to take to market.
- Identifying, reporting and resolving risks and gaps in the products and operating processes where appropriate.
- Responsible for comprehensive (data) analysis, input and subject matter expertise where relevant or required across technical, control, and regulatory matters.
- Leadership in resolution and/or escalation of client and colleague queries, issues, and complaints.
- Developing/rolling out training programmes that may be required, e.g., to support rollout of the new payment solutions.
- To design, build and manage products on an E2E basis that generate sustainable returns by helping clients to achieve their business ambitions in the right way – such as making their banking easier and enabling their business to grow.
Purpose of the role
To develop and manage the success of specific financial products and services, providing in-depth expertise on a particular product line, bridging the gap between product development, marketing, sales, and customer service.
Accountabilities
- Provision of SME expertise on specific products and services to customers and colleagues, including features, functionalities, benefits, limitations, risks, and compliance.
- Identification of market trends, new features, regulatory requirements, and potential risks, and analysis of data obtained from sales figures and customer feedback, to support the product development process, and communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders to improve product offerings.
- Response to customer inquiries, resolution of issues, and provision of guidance on product usage.
- Presentation of the advantages and features of the product to potential customers, building trust and encouraging adoption.
- Assistance with the development and execution of marketing materials for the product, such as brochures, presentations, and online content.
- Participation in training sessions and workshops to share product knowledge and expertise with colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Participation in events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to showcase the product and generate interest.

- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments/initiatives.

- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/businesses divisions.
- Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
