Do you like to get to the bottom of things and do you find it easy to understand processes? Would you like to work for a major international player, but aren't so keen on working for highly regulated corporates or financials? If so, a job as a Senior Internal Auditor at our international headquarters sounds like something that's right up your street! With your experience in carrying out (operational) audits, strong communication skills, analytical insights and enthusiasm, you will be a perfect fit for Action and our Internal Audit team.

This is your daily action

You will provide management with valuable insights into how to manage our risks better. As an Internal Auditor, you will be involved in the planning, execution and reporting of operational audits or other activities.

You will make a direct contribution to assessing and strengthening the internal control of our business processes by offering pragmatic and cost-conscious solutions. An audit therefore doesn't end with the report – you will also follow up on action plans and contribute to improving our business processes. Using your good relationships with departmental and senior management, you will stay up to date on how improvements are implemented.

Internal Audit supports management with complex risk issues: use of customer data, cyber risk, process management, and the maturity of internal control. We contribute to a better way of working and the realisation of Action’s goals. And we increase risk awareness for effective risk management, with the aim of remaining future-proof. By maintaining a collaborative relationship with the stakeholders, you are able to share ideas and launch improvement actions.

You will carry out audit tasks in all countries across Europe in which Action operates. Please note that you will spend around 10 to 15 % of your time on business travel, for example to our country offices in Paris, Milan, Dusseldorf, or Katowice, or to one of our distribution centers throughout Europe.

Meet your team

You will work closely with your fellow internal auditors in an informal and professional team. Together with Risk Management, Internal Audit is part of the Risk Assurance team. Together we are essential for expanding and improving our business processes. Our activities span the entire value chain, from purchasing our products to sales in our stores, in all countries in which we operate.

This is you

As an Internal Auditor at Action, you will carry out your own audit tasks with minimal guidance. You are eager to find out more about our company and stakeholder perspectives. You are an analytical thinker and are able to relate Action's strategic goals to operational business processes and financial results. You are a clear communicator and know how to simplify and explain complex matters.

You also have the following:

  • You have a completed bachelor's or master's degree.
  • You have at least five years of experience in (internal) audit, risk management, or other process management-related activities.
  • You adopt a practical, customer-oriented mindset.
  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You have strong business acumen.
  • You are fluent in English; Dutch would be an asset.

What we offer

A lot! From our bustling home base in the Netherlands, you’ll have an impact on the whole of Europe. The counter now stands at more than 2,600 stores in 12 countries and millions of smiles from our customers. And our big growth ambitions will bring Action and you even further. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. In recent years, there have been several examples of Internal Auditors and Risk Managers who have grown further within the organization. A different job, an interesting innovation project, new skills: as a professional, you can develop yourself. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost-conscious, and respect.

Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • A market-based salary based on a 38-hour work week.
  • An annual bonus between 10 - 20% based on company and personal performance.
  • 24 days of holiday and the option to buy 5 extra days (based on 38 hours per week).
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working up to 40% from home, in coordination with the team.
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action.
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance, and travel expenses allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is traffic jam-free and only 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam + we offer a shuttlebus service from station Hoorn if you come with public transport).

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you join us. For example, we are working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children’s Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that only energy-efficient LED lighting is used in more than half of our stores? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
