Want to make your mark on our times? Come work at TNO as a Safety & Health Advisor in The Hague!

About this position

TNO stands for experimental, innovative research. Every day over 4000 enthusiastic experts at 25 different locations are busy making the Netherlands a little more sustainable, safer, and healthier. They do this by working in very diverse environments and with very diverse materials. From offices to laboratories, from explosives and chemicals to microbiological agents. Their safety must be guaranteed. And that's where you as Safety & Health Advisor will play a crucial role.

What will be your role?

As a Safety & Health Advisor, your primary focus will be on the development of the policy on BHV and crisis management. In the morning, you will have a physical consultation with the Head of BHV at the Delft location to spar about the specific needs of that location in the area of BHV and the implementation of these needs. In the afternoon you will have a digital meeting with the Crisis Manager of the Groningen location to discuss the scenarios for the next crisis exercise. You will also go through the specific training sessions that are needed for that location. And at the end of the afternoon, you have a meeting with the COO of TNO to fine-tune the reviewed FAFS policy.

So as Safety & Health Advisor you have an incredibly varied job. Together with the other advisors in the Research Facilities department, you have a directing role in everything within TNO related to the BHV organization and crisis management. The goal is to improve TNO's safety culture and minimize risks at the sites. You will work with the Heads of BHV, the Crisis Managers, the QSHE team, the Board of Directors, and senior Management. As a result, you will visit every TNO location. You constantly switch between different levels, from operational to policy. Because of the innovative research, the work within TNO is very varied and there are always new questions coming your way.

The unique thing about TNO for a safety expert is that you encounter all safety issues. From hazardous materials, self-assembly machinery to FAFS and building safety, where environment and permits also play a role. If your areas of focus are BHV organization and crisis management, you can delve into these topics as well.
