The Role
As a Project Controller, you are the key link between the business and the finance department. You will be part of the Damen Workboats Division Finance team, responsible for project control and project administration within the Division. Your role involves:
- Monitoring project results
- Forecasting scenarios
- Managing cash flow
- Identifying and mitigating risks
- Challenging the business to proactively manage these aspects
This position is part of the project control team, where you will work alongside three other Project Controllers. The team's activities are focused on project control and project administration, with this role emphasizing project control. Each team member has their own specialism and unique talents, providing an excellent opportunity for mutual learning.
Key Accountabilities:
- Project Control: Responsible for the control of dedicated projects, focusing on cash flow management, cost control, forecasting, reporting, and general progress monitoring. This will primarily involve the less complex projects of the Division.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other project controllers within the Division to ensure cohesive project management.
- Budget Management: Actively monitor and manage projects to ensure they remain within approved budgets.
- Project Administration: Contribute to accurate project administration for the order book and stock projects of Workboats by checking cost entries, purchase orders, and project settings.
- Problem Solving: Identify issues and independently propose solutions to improve project financial results.
- Reporting: Deliver monthly reports and updates on the project’s financial status, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clarity, with comprehensive analysis and explanations.
Skills & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor degree in Business Economics, Accounting, or Finance.
- Experience: Approximately 1-3 years of relevant experience in project control, especially in a project-driven environment.
- Technical Skills: Analytical skills, understanding what is behind the numbers. Experience with SAP is also desired.
- Personal Traits: Driven, ambitious, proactive, and prepared to go the extra mile. Hands-on, accurate, well-structured, reliable, and discreet.
- Team Player: Flexible and able to work effectively in a small team within a dynamic work environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
