Damen Civil & Modular Constructions is part of the Damen group where we are passionate about building entire shipyards, drydocks of all sizes, a wide range of pontoons and barges, split hopper barges, and other steelworks worldwide. We are headquartered in the center of the Netherlands in Gorinchem but we service and build all over the globe. We have a diverse mix of experts in engineering, production (local and global), quality, and project/product management. Together we aim to serve our internal and external clients successfully.

About you:

The role:

Currently, we are looking for an ambitious assistant project manager. In this function, you will support the more senior project managers with big steel projects such as drydocks and large pontoon orders. Besides supporting senior project managers, you are also expected to be in control of other steel projects in our standard portfolio or one-off orders. We expect that you are able to deliver a project on time, within budget, and up to our Damen quality standard whilst communicating clearly with your internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities:
  • You are overall responsible for delivering a project on time, within budget, and up to the Damen quality standard.
  • If there are any issues, you communicate these internally and externally.
  • During the process, you report and keep all stakeholders informed and escalate when necessary.
  • To ensure the above, you visit the production sites worldwide regularly.

Education / skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in projects within the maritime or steel-products environment.
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Higher professional education or Bachelor in technical or maritime thinking level
  • Good command of the English and Dutch language (written & verbal).
  • Available for business travel and/or working abroad for a short-medium duration.

What we offer

  • A one-year contract with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent, full-time contract;
  • The opportunity to work on challenging and exciting projects in the maritime sector;
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement;
  • 40 annual vacation days.
  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including a retirement plan.
