Internship (Cycles and Procurement): Sustainability in Dairy Ingredients

Do you love managing projects with internal and external stakeholders? Are you a goal-oriented person with strong analytical skills who is passionate about sustainability, supplier engagement, and project development? Then apply now and join us as our new Sustainability in Dairy Ingredients Intern in our Hoofddorp office starting January/February 2024.

You will be part of the Global Cycles & Procurement organization of Danone within the department responsible for sustainability in Dairy Ingredients. You will work with colleagues who are highly skilled and dedicated professionals aiming to decarbonize our supply chain and meet Danone’s ambitious climate targets. We focus on the development of decarbonization projects with our suppliers and engage with our global Dairy Ingredients suppliers to meet Danone's sustainability requirements.

Your Main Tasks Will Be:

Sustainability performance management (40%):
  • Follow and measure progress of our global dairy ingredient suppliers on key sustainability KPIs.
  • Support with management updates and presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Support the development of brand stories, based on the sustainability-related achievements in dairy ingredients.
  • Engage with Dairy Ingredient buyers on key priorities for global suppliers on sustainability engagement and support with supplier meetings.
  • Guide and train Dairy Ingredients buyers on Danone’s Net Zero roadmap and regenerative agriculture sourcing targets.
Sustainability project development and implementation (30%):
  • Review project proposals of global dairy suppliers to assess credibility, scalability, and suitability of on-farm measures.
  • Engage with various regional teams across the globe to support data collection, regional supplier engagement, and project implementation.
  • Develop a framework for assessing our collaborative projects and reduction levers, and identify key metrics linked to Danone’s impact journey (GHG emission reduction, water impact, biodiversity, social impact).
  • Support the development of internal and external messaging of our decarbonization initiatives with suppliers.
Strategy and innovation (30%):
  • Work with internal experts to identify, and approve new innovative reduction levers to accelerate our decarbonization efforts in various farming systems.
  • Conduct desk research to identify new opportunities in different geographies for our 2025 decarbonization strategy.
  • Identify and assess different public funding opportunities in the relevant sourcing regions for dairy ingredients.

About You

As a Sustainability in Dairy Ingredients intern, analytical skills and creativity will be second nature to you. You can easily connect with people, work autonomously, and think outside the box. You’re passionate about sustainability and always looking for opportunities to learn and develop. Your logical mindset allows you to spot critical information in the data provided, supporting you in gathering useful insights that can be transformed into solutions. You are a fast learner, team player, have positive energy, and the ability to prioritize to always meet deadlines.

There Are Also Some Compulsory Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a Bachelors/Masters student in the field of Sustainability or Agricultural study during the whole internship period (if you are a non-EU citizen, you need to be enrolled at a Dutch university);
  • Ideally available to start in January / February for a minimum of 6 months, 4-5 days per week;
  • You are fluent in English - spoken and written;
  • You are able to work from Hoofddorp, NL, at least twice a week;
  • Please note that you are required to relocate to the Netherlands (if abroad) for this internship and get a BSN.

We Offer

As a Sustainability in Dairy Ingredients intern, you will learn how Danone follows and measures progress to achieve key sustainability KPIs. You'll be part of a diverse team with close connection to leadership, supported from beginning to end by your supervisor, and working alongside professionals in the field. Together, we’ll build a healthier world.

We offer a gross monthly internship allowance of 650 euros per month and a home working allowance/contribution towards travel. Please note that we do not offer relocation and/or accommodation benefits for students coming from abroad.
