Internship: Sustainable Sourcing and Forest Engagement

About the Job

Are you passionate about sustainability? Would you like to contribute to a global company’s sustainability strategy? Then apply now and join us as our new Sustainable Sourcing and Forest Engagement Intern in our Hoofddorp, NL office starting February 2024!

At Danone, we recognize the urgent need to continue and amplify our effort in protecting and restoring natural ecosystems. This has been a central element of our Sustainable sourcing strategy, especially through the lens of Danone Forest Policy, published in 2022.

Danone has been taking strong commitments on deforestation and land conversion for key supply chains, in line with its engagement to the 1.5C SBTI FLAG target. Category action plans are being implemented and monitored across Danone Procurement organization (also called Cycles & Procurement), and we have the ambition to strengthen even more our internal and external engagement on this topic to maximize impact and awareness and prepare the next phases of our strategy.

As our new Intern in Sustainable Sourcing and Forest Engagement, you will join our Sustainable Sourcing team (part of Cycles & Procurement) to support in making Forest and Sustainable Sourcing topics understood and shining across our organization. We expect you to do it your way and bring something special to support our different teams in monitoring their achievements and celebrating our progress towards Nature-positive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Structuring and animating our community of stakeholders around Sustainable Sourcing, including for Forest/Nature (e.g., co-organizing inspiring sessions to take a step back on our progress and prepare the next phases of our strategy);
  • Reinforcing our knowledge base (e.g., consolidating our learnings within the Sustainable Sourcing website);
  • Supporting the consolidation of the progress on forest targets (e.g., developing a monitoring dashboard) and answering external reporting as CDP Forests. This includes updating the Danone Annual Forest report publicly available.
  • Supporting the preparation of our strategy 2025-2030, including benchmarking and external inspiration.

To thrive in your missions, you will be accompanied by the Global Head of Forest & Biodiversity of Danone. You will join a small and close-knit international team with people who are eager to guide you through this experience. You will have the opportunity to gain practical insights on how sustainability is implemented in an international company.

About You

You are a student pursuing a degree in Business, Political Sciences, or Sustainability. You demonstrate strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and have the ability to engage with people from different backgrounds. Your passion and curiosity about sustainability are evident, and you have the ability to manage projects autonomously. You are proactive and not afraid to take initiative, bringing forth new ideas. You are skilled in presentation and MS Office, and other tools to engage with people.

There are some compulsory requirements:

  • Enrolled as a student during the entire internship period (if you are a non-EU citizen, you need to be enrolled at a Dutch university);
  • Ideally available to start in February 2025 for a minimum of 6 months, 5 days per week;
  • Fluent in English - spoken and written;
  • Able to work from Hoofddorp, NL, at least 2 days per week;
  • Relocation to the Netherlands is required for this internship, including obtaining a BSN.
